I really, really needed this. College was driving me crazy - in combination with all the things I've promised to make for everyone else. I have GOT to stop doing that. Basically, for the past fornight, every time I've felt like picking up a needle, I've thought about a project I should be working on and it just hasn't got done. However, I gave everybody some heads-up that the work may be delayed, and now I have time to think.
And I have decided a few things.
First, I'm not going back to college after I finish this course this year. I might want to later, but working to fill slots and having to write down my thought processes (TEEEDIOUS) is just stopping me doing what I need to be doing, which leads me to the next thing.
I'm putting a delay in training to be a textile restorer, because my family seem to really believe I could make it in art doll making, and people have started actually showing an interest in my textile work. So I'm going to use next year to brush up on my skills, learn new techniques, refine things I already know, until I have something I really can sell. Which brings us neatly to:
The third point, which is that I am no longer operating as Phyrbyrd Studios. I will be keeping my LJ, Y! and AIM usernames and all the other messengers and things like that, but I may start a new DA under the new name - Hypothetical Textiles. The old name wasn't working - for a start, anything you have to tell people how to spell every time you introduce your company probably isn't a selling point, especially if they keep forgetting that spelling.
Hypothetical Textiles will hopefully avoid that, and invoke the idea of a company with, well, new ideas.
I spent several hours last night cutting out psychobunny and psychokitty shapes - I think I might make an owl version. But now I have bruised fingers and also, a scab on my nose where I scratched it. It doesn't hurt, but I can see it out of the corner of my eye and it's driving me nuts.
